The game supports a total of four players in an online coop session, meaning you can still play with friends throughout the whole experience. Sadly, Dead Island 2 is not playable in split screen and features no local cooperative gameplay features, meaning you and a friend will have to purchase a copy each to join up with each other online and play through the game.
